GLA Seminar Descriptions

A variety of seminars have been assembled to give our GLA participants a well-rounded view of local and state leadership as well as personal development topics. 

Orientation/Leadership Overview
Nationally-renowned facilitator Adorna Carroll will be on hand to guide the team through the following topics: Qualities of a Leader, Team Building, Goal Setting, Time Management and Creative Thinking.

GAR Inaugural Meeting
Learn all about “Exceeding Expectations: The WOW Factor,” at the 2008 GAR Inaugural Meeting! GLA participants will attend the Leadership Connection and a special luncheon in your honor.

Legislative Appreciation Day
Sit in on a meeting of the GAR State and Local Governmental Affairs Committee. Keith Hatcher, GAR’s Senior Political Consultant, will guide you through our state’s Capitol. Tim Kibler, GAR Governmental Affairs Representative, will discuss GAR’s role in influencing policy matters and the laws regarding real estate and private property rights.

Parliamentary Procedure & the REALTOR® Organization
Learn how the Association is governed by an examination of the following topics: Robert’s Rules of Order, meeting management, agendas, minutes, the Three-Way Agreement, governing documents, sources of information, liability insurance, the Code of Ethics and dispute resolution.

Not-for-Profit Finances & Legal Matters
Legal and accounting experts will be on hand to guide you through the proper channels for strategic planning, understanding financial statements and a variety of legal matters.

GAR Annual Convention & Trade Expo
Journey to Destin, Florida, for a week of committee meetings, education sessions and networking functions. Participants will attend the Leadership Connection session.

Communication Skills
Nationally renowned trainer Patti Wood will demonstrate techniques related to sharpening your body language, listening, networking, writing and reading skills that are essential to your success as a leader. Additionally, trainer Peter Mosca will cover media relations and public speaking tips.

Personal Matters
Complete your course in Leadership Training by examining your personal habits and how they influence your professional life with the help of dynamic trainer Terry Watson. Topics covered are personal finance, diet & exercise, dress for success, business etiquette and memory training.
