Videoconferencing Allows All GAR Members Access to Meetings
With the help of technology, GAR is providing new and innovative ways to connect members with each other and the GAR office. Involvement with GAR is now a much shorter drive for every member across the state, and with today’s gas prices, that’s no minor detail. GAR has established videoconferencing with several local board offices including Albany, Greater Augusta, Cherokee, Hall County, Golden Isles, Middle Georgia, and Savannah.
Meeting attendance via videoconference has taken off quickly, with more members attending committee meetings remotely. Numerous committees have already held meetings via videoconference, connecting with several of the remote sites simultaneously. Committees who have used videoconference include Communications and Public Relations, State and Local Governmental Affairs, Forms, Convention, Education and more. Members who live hours away from Atlanta who serve on multiple committees see videoconferencing as one of GAR’s most valuable member benefits. “The greatest benefit I received was in time saved,” says Region Three Director Tom Wise of Rome.
Please select the link in the box on the right-hand side of this page that reads "2008 Committee Criteria." This page will allow you to read the mission and responsibilities for each committee, allowing you to select the committee(s) that piques your interest. Applications for 2009 committees will start being accepted this summer.
When you attend a meeting remotely, you still have the same voting rights as you would if you were attending in person. GAR committee members tend to be dynamic top-producers in their local market. So whether you live in Clayton, Bainbridge, St. Mary’s or Dalton, your voice will be heard from far away and your involvement with GAR can be substantial. Get involved with GAR today!
